BISHOPS SCHOOL

Recently we went on a class trip to Bishops School. We were lucky (or unlucky) enough to have a proper old fashioned lesson by our new teacher 'Mr Green' (It was really Nicky Green from the Nelson Museum). Mr Green terrified us! We had to dress in olden day clothing and if 'he' didn't like our outfit enough, he made us put on smocks, waistcoats and aprons before entering! Our parents dressed up too - check out their photos along with ours below. You will see us singing the National Anthem of the time "God save the Queen", doing our spelling practice firstly facing the blackboard (while Mr Green slapped onto the letters with the dreaded cane!), then facing the back of the room whilst Mr Green pointed to us individually to recite the word spellings! You can also see photos of us doing our handwriting. When we did our handwriting we had to link every letter, and if we were left handed we were made to use our right hands! Lauryn and Mike did not find this easy! The other lessons we did were reading and maths and it was also very different to how we usually do things in modern day Room 5! Mr Green thought we didn't clean our fingernails well enough and had forgotten to polish our shoes, however 'he' said our singing was 'superb'! It seems all of that Glee practice has come in handy :)
Thanks to the parents that helped by taking us there and a huge thank you to Nicky Green (Mr Green) at our local Museum for scaring, I mean teaching us.
